A lucid account...
Mobile web to take over the planet by 2014 - Time to JDI!
It's no good. If you're serious about ecommerce you really can't ignore the mobile web revolution much longer. It's time to JDI... Just Do It!
Mobile web is set to overtake desktop browsing by 2014. Zillions of consumers all over the world are already welded to their smartphones for most of the day. They're shopping on the small screen like there's no tomorrow. And tablets are huge too, another mini-screen solution that's taking off big style.
So there's a considerable window of opportunity. OK, you're not going to be there on the ground floor. Things are moving incredibly fast. But you can still win a significant competitive advantage if your site displays like a dream on a tiny screen and your main competitor's looks and works like a dog's dinner.
There's a lot of talk about delivering different customer experiences to different devices. So far there's no single best approach and hundreds of potential solutions are being worked on furiously across the globe. Luckily making a site mobile-friendly needn't be a nightmare. If yours is built on the Adobe Business Catalyst platform ABC), for instance, you're in a position of power.
Adobe is focusing on making several solutions available. They acknowledge it's early days and current technologies are at best fluid, at worst potentially obsolete in record time. But they've got their eye on the ball. Several balls, in fact. And they're running with them.
Adobe's developers are busy researching, specifying and implementing rock solid multi-screen solutions that are flexible enough to take the strain of constant change. They're also primed to take the 'next big thing' on board as it appears, inevitably, on the horizon. Which means when your site's built using ABC, it'll sit at the forefront of mobile web technology. And stay there.
Have a chat with Chris if your site's old and knackered, in need of an update, mobile un-friendly or just butt ugly. He'll create you something beautiful, functional and flexible built with Adobe Business Catalyst, using the latest technologies developed by a trusted, respected company. You'll get a site that attracts loads of new visitors, keeps existing ones coming back for more and helps you stay ahead of the competition.
We'll talk more about mobile web next week, delving boldly into the ABC nitty-gritty. See you then.
