Your brand identity is how you are identified, recognised and remembered.
The logo is a very important part of a business identity, and will usually have an influence on how the rest of the business brand identity will look.
It can be made up of symbols, sometimes recognisable objects sometimes abstract and type or just one of these.
The business name, what it stands for and does in it's sector normally drives the design process. All designers will have their own methods for working up concepts, there's no right or wrong way only the end result is what matters.
